Woodwind great Gary Foster to lead master class

On Mon., March 2, the music department at La Sierra University will host internationally renowned woodwind artist Gary Foster in a master class for students and instructors.

An accomplished performer on the clarinet, flute and saxophone, Foster has been a first call freelance musician in Los Angeles for over 50 years. His diverse career spans multiple musical genres and performance venues around the world. 

In live performance Foster has played with jazz legends Benny Goodman, Lee Konitz, Warne Marsh, Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, and Rosemary Clooney. Recording projects have included work with Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Bette Midler, Quincy Jones, Placido Domingo, Christina Aguilera, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Michael Jackson, and many more.

Foster will coach several student ensembles and soloists from La Sierra University, as well as select members of the La Sierra University community and La Sierra’s Academy of Visual and Performing Arts education program.
