Chip Spier was senior organist, choir director and Minister of Music at Vallejo Drive Church in Glendale from 1960 to 2003. He developed the Handbell Institute at that church which included nine handbell choirs and ensembles. He was also Director of Handbell Ministries at Newhall Presbyterian Church and the Choong Hyun Mission Church in Glendale. From 1986 to 1996 he directed a total of fifteen bell choirs, five ensembles and six soloists each week. He was Minister of Music at La Sierra University Church from 2001 to 2011. He is currently Director of Handbell Ministries at the same church. He has served as a clinician in Area Twelve for the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers (now Handbell Musicians of America). He has directed bells for over thirty-seven years. Chip has held memberships in the Choral Conductor’s Guild, The American Guild of Organists, Handbell Musicians of America, Southern California Music Teachers Association, The American Federation of Theater and Recording Artists and the American Guild of Musical Artists. In addition to his extensive musical background, Chip has advanced degrees in physiology and had worked for 32 years as a senior research investigator in pulmonary medicine at Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center.
