Student Organizations The Biology department proudly sponsors:
A national honors society dedicated to improving the understanding and appreciation of biological study through activities designed to stimulate scholarly growth, environmental awareness, and community service, all in a professional, community-oriented and exciting atmosphere.
This society aims to provide pre-medical undergraduates with an understanding of medicine as a profession, and to assist the process of preparation in the study of medicine academically, spiritually and physically. Active in planning and implementing mission experiences during school breaks, to give the students hands-on understanding of the medical profession, aiding in humanitarian relief. This society is open to anyone in the medical field.
The purpose for this club is to assist students in preparing for and applying to dental schools through academic assistance and DAT preparation, dental related workshops, dental seminars and service activities.
It provides a common ground for students from various academic disciplines where they can advance their understanding of environmental management. It is also a hands-on club where members participate in community clean up days, organic gardening, camp outs, and much more!
Here in Biology we like to encourage our students to find employment within the department to aid in a balanced approach to science. You can apply to be a TA (Teaching Assistant) where you get hands on experience teaching others in a lab setting. Or you could apply to be an RA (Research Assistant) where you help professors in their labs working on the cutting edge of Science.
We also offer positions as Readers where you assist with the grading of assignments, and as Stock room associates. In the stock room you will learn all the various instruments and items needed in stocking a laboratory.
La Sierra University also offers work experience in other areas on campus: please feel free to check out our HR site with the newest job listings available.
