The following items are required in order to request the issuance of the I-20 Form for accepted international applicants needing a Student Visa (F-1):
Financial Guarantee Form (also known as the FGF)
All international students must furnish evidence of additional resources to finance the expenses of the planned education. Because international students do not qualify for loans and grants listed under Financial Aid, parents or sponsors are responsible for making payment arrangements each quarter at registration. Students cannot carry over a balance from one quarter to the next.
The student must obtain the proper signatures on the Financial Guarantee Form and file it with the Office of Admissions before clearance can be given for the issuance of an I-20 form.

A copy of a current bank statement or a letter from a bank (in English) showing that you (or if you are being sponsored, your sponsor) have enough funds to cover the amounts shown in the Financial Guarantee Form. Acceptable financial documents must not have been issued more than six (6) months before the term you intend to enroll at LSU.
Copy of Passport
Please send a copy of the first page only. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months.
An international applicant (other than Canadian) on a student visa is required to make an advance deposit. The deposit will remain on account until the student terminates academic work at La Sierra University. The deposit can be used as partial payment for the last term.
The amount of the deposit varies, depending the country of origin. Please refer to the international deposits table for details.
The deposit may be paid with either a cashier’s check/money order made payable to La Sierra University, with a Visa, Master Card, American Express, or Discover credit card, or by bank wire transfer. To pay the deposit, please contact our Bursar Office at (951) 785-2152 or your enrollment counselor.

All international students are required to submit a processing fee of $100 to be used for postage and expenses relating to the acquisition of their I-20. Current cost of shipping will be deducted from the $100 fee and the remaining balance will be credited to the student’s account after receipt of the I-20. If more than $100 is spent, then the student’s international student deposit will be debited.
All international students are required to submit a financial plan to cover the expenses of their planned education before clearance can be given for the issuance of an I-20 form.

Additional Items Required in Specific Cases
In-coming Transfer Report
You are a transfer international student If you will be transferring from another university or school in the United States to La Sierra University.
- Please fill out Section 1 of the Transfer-In Form and have your International Student Office at your current academic institution complete Section2.
- Fax the completed form to 951.785.2477.
Verification of Housing
Required if adding dependents. A verification from LSU Housing Office, letter from hosting family OR letter from management at non-LSU housing.
