Accounting

Detail-oriented accounting student needed to assist in the accounting office. Graduate student preferred. Clerical test required. For more information, please call Gary Willis in the accounting office at x2096.

Biology

Applications for immediate openings for TA-2, Laboratory Teaching Assistant for BIOL 446L Human Gross Anatomy Lab are being accepted at PSC 107 or PSC 201. Application forms are available outside PSC 107, or can be emailed. Labs meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6 - 9 PM. Set-up/take-down may take hour before and after labs. Additional time may be needed as directed by instructor. TA-2 laboratory Teaching Assistant job description available from H.R. or Biology Stockroom on request. Two to three openings available. Bursar

The Bursar's office is looking for detailed, customer oriented individual to work at the cashiers window in the Bursar/Accounting Office. Individual will be responsible for receipting payments made to the window, check cashing, handling telephone calls and emails from students, sponsors, and staff as well as various tasks as assigned by the Bursar and Accountants. Must have customer service experience. Cashiering experience is a plus, computer skills with Microsoft Office suite of products are also necessary. Business majors preferred, but all qualified individuals will be considered. Please take applicaiton to Stefani McFarland in the Bursar/Accounting Office.

Center for Research on K-12 SDA Education

The Center for Research on K-12 Adventist Education is looking for someone who can work 10-12 hours per week. Must be proficient in computer usage and programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as have good communication skills, both written and oral. Must also have excellent organization skills, with the ability to work under pressure. Must also be flexible and have strong attention to detail skills. Chemistry

The chemistry department is in need of a driver 21 over to drive the LSU van to transport some of our Instrumental Analysis students to LLU and back on Tuesdays (between 11-7) and Wednesdays (between 3-7).  On Tuesdays we will be making two trips and only one on Wednesdays.  The program starts April 16th.  For more information or to apply, please contact Richard Rakijian at x2367.

English

The English Department is looking for a student familiar with office work who is available for 10 hours a week. Previous experience is preferred, but not required. Applicants should be comfortable with answering phones, making photocopies, and filing. Student should be relatively proficient with writing and editing, and be organization-minded. Some other duties would include helping the department secretary with jobs as they arise, such as selling Drama tickets. During the summer and early Fall, our department will be relocating; therefore, student workers will be asked to assist with packing boxes and emptying closets. Enrollment Services

Enrollment Services is looking for an exceptional graduate student with good interpersonal skills to call potential students in the evening. Work would consist of contacting graduate students along with undergraduate students. The graduate telecounselor will be informing students of upcoming enrollment events, inviting students to visit the campus and requesting fulfillment of admission requirements. Must be able to proficiently operate a PC. Must possess a basic understanding of how to operate within a database. Must possess excellent communication skills and possses the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentialilty. Those with cold calling experience are preferred.

Landscape

A dependable student who has 4-5 hour blocks of time in the mornings, needed to work in the Landscape department. Must be able to lift 50lbs. If interested, please apply in person to the Landscape department. Tel:  785-2438.

Learning Assistant

Patient, organized, reliable student sought to facilitate active studying through scheduled sessions, one to three times per week. Student will meet with identified students with LD/ADHD/psychiatric disorders and students who would greatly benefit from more structured study time. Student should have an interest in helping others. Tutoring, volunteering and/or experience working in Psychology is a plus. Students majoring in helping professions, such as: Social Work, Counseling or Psychology are encouraged tp apply. Graduate students seeking to fulfill fieldwork/practicum hours in Social Work or Education degree programs are strongly desired and preferred. Experience working in a higher education setting and with students with disabilities, preferred. All students interested in applying should submit an application directly to the Learning Support and Testing Center and Office of Disability Services, which is located in the Lower Level of La Sierra Hall.  Applications can be picked up at the front desk of the Center or can be found at www.lasierra.edu/lstc.  When submitting an application, please also submit a resume and a copy of unofficial transcripts that can be obtained from Self Service at the La Sierra website.

Tutor

Outstanding students needed to tutor college students in specific content areas in small groups. Must have received an A in course tutoring in, or interview with Department Chair. Must have excellent communication skills, enunciate clearly in English, and have knowledge of subject area. For more information, please contact LSTC front desk.

Registrar  

Front Desk Clerk/Student Assistant
The Records Office is seeking a Front Desk Clerk who is dependable, detail-oriented with accurate record keeping and strict attention to detail. Must be able to work during all breaks, graduation weekend, and most importantly during the summer. Experience within a customer service oriented environment responding to and meeting/exceeding the needs of the customer. Answering high volume of phone calls and must be able to multitask. Have the ability to interact effectively with department staff as well as campus and outside community. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and other related computer applications. Independently draft letters and memos for signature or review by supervisor/manager, using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, composition, text editing, and proofreading skills. Student Financial Services

Student Secretary I or II

Detail-oriented, dependable students needed to provide clerical assistance to the department. Must be familiar with all student functions in the office, and be able to fill in fo the receptionist. Must be available to work a minimum of four-hour, or five-hour blocks (8:00a.m. - 12:00p.m. or 12:00p.m. - 5:00p.m.). Must possess excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite. Must possess the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. Duties include, but are not limited to:  providing service to students and parents, receiving and returning phone calls, assisting Counselors, data entry and running errands on-campus.
