The Phillips Foundation – Ronald Reagan College Foundation Leaders Scholarship program

Criteria: Open to all majors. The scholarship was designed in the intention to alleviate the financial burdens associated with higher education, permitting the winners to devote more time both to pursuing their academic goals and advancing their leadership initiatives. Applicants must be US citizens enrolled full-time in good standing at any accredited, four-year degree-granting institution in the United States and/or its territories. Criteria: Open to all majors. Applicants need not be citizens of the United States; however, they must be candidates for the doctoral degree at a graduate school within the United States. These fellowships are not intended to finance data collection or the completion of doctoral coursework, but rather to support the final analysis of the research topic and the writing of the dissertation. For this reason, all applicants must document that they will have completed all pre-dissertation requirements by June 1, 2012 and must provide a clear and specific plan for completing the dissertation within a one or two-year time frame.

Scholarships for Minorities

 

National Association of Hispanic Journalists

Criteria: Open to Hispanic students in the field of journalism.

1. COMMITMENT TO THE FIELD OF JOURNALISM — Students must demonstrate an interest and desire to pursue a career in the field of journalism. This applies to students who are planning careers in English or Spanish-language media. Students do not have to be journalism majors to be eligible for NAHJ scholarships.

2. ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT — There is no minimum grade point average to qualify for NAHJ scholarships. However, earning good grades is always important. Academic performance will play a role in deciding which students are awarded scholarships.

3. FINANCIAL NEED — The economic status of a student's household will be taken into consideration in making scholarship selections.

4. AWARENESS OF THE COMMUNITY — The Latino community is the fastest-growing segment of the U.S. population. Student journalists need to be aware of issues that face the Latino community and Latinos in the newsroom while striving to portray all people in a fair and accurate manner in coverage of stories.

The One Stop Treatment scholarship for Nutrition, Health and Fitness is designed to encourage students to create a personal brand for themselves as they enter a field where how you treat clients is just as important as what you know.
