Financial AID

Students are required to make financial plans and complete financial arrangements with the office of Student Financial Services before school begins.  For an appointment, contact them at 951-785-2175 or sfs@lasierra.edu.

Division of Continuing Studies' students may qualify for financial aid. Obtaining financial aid can take as much as 4-5 weeks, so please plan ahead.  To be considered for all possible grants and scholarships, your FAFSA should be filed as soon as your tax forms are completed.  Apply early or you may miss out on grants, scholarships, and other free money for education.  However, do not be hesitant to apply for admission and financial aid in the weeks just before a term starts. We will expedite your application if possible.

The amount of financial aid offered is determined by your personal financial situation and the total units taken: 12 units or more, full-time; 9-11 units, 3/4-time; 6-8 units, 1/2-time.  Financial aid is not available for students registered for fewer than 6 units (less than 1/2-time).  To receive financial aid a student must:

  • Apply for University Admission
  • Apply for a Federal Student Aid personal identification number (PIN) so you can electronically sign your FAFSA for faster processing.  Apply at www.pin.ed.gov
  • Submit your completed FAFSA application.  Apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov or pick up a copy of the form from DCS or Student Financial Services.  Other websites may charge to process your FAFSA, so be sure to use the authorized FAFSA site.  You will be asked to enter your school code, La Sierra University's code is 001215.
  • Submit all paperwork required by Student Financial Services
  • Be accepted by the University

Note: Financial aid funds are applied to a student's account only after the student is accepted into a degree program.

Academic Advisement

Academic advisement is completed in the office of the Division of Continuing Studies.  An appointment is not necessary but is highly recommended.  The Course Schedule is available approximately 6 weeks before the beginning of each term, and advisement can take place after the schedule is published.

Tuition for DCS students for the 2013-2014 academic year is $389/unit.
