Graduate Students

Following you will find all the information graduate students need to know about priority application dates and documentation needed to complete your application file.

Preferred Application Dates

Please take note of the following preferred application deadlines. Once a file is complete, we send offers of admission on a rolling basis.

Summer Quarter                   May 1

Fall Quarter                           July 1

Winter Quarter                     November 15

Spring Quarter                      March 1

Submitting Your Application

The easiest way to apply is online. Please contact the Office of Enrollment Services if you prefer a paper copy of the application or click here to download one now.

Along with your application, you will need to submit:
$30 processing fee. NOTE: Fee not required for applications submitted online.

Official College Transcript: Unofficial transcripts can be used to expedite the admissions process. Official transcripts are required to process requests for financial aid and to complete your admissions file. To be considered official, transcripts must be mailed directly to the Admissions Office from each school attended.

Recommendations: For graduate programs through the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Education, and School of Religion:  three recommendations are required from professional people (not related to you) who can evaluate you on your (a) character; (b) academics; and (c) job performance. One recommendation per category is required.

For the MBA program through the School of Business, you will be notified if you need to submit one or more recommendations.

Graduate Admission Tests:  Test scores are required for the following degree and credential programs.

  • Credentials (other than teaching credentials)                   Requires GRE General scores
  • Master of Arts in English                                                  Requires GRE General scores
  • Master of Arts in Religion                                                Requires GRE General scores
  • Master of Arts in Education programs                             May require GRE General                                                                                                scores if GPA is below 3.00
  • Master of Business Administration                                  May require GMAT or GRE                                                                                             scores if GPA is below 3.00
  • Specialist in Education (Ed.S.)                                         Requires GRE General scores
  • Doctor of Education (Ed.D.)                                            Requires GRE General scores


Department Interview: Required for most School of Education programs. Please schedule an appointment with the chair in your program’s department.

Writing Sample: Applicants to the Master of Arts in English program are required to provide a piece of recent academic writing, preferably literary in nature or that otherwise displays the applicant’s analytical skills. The essay should reflect upper division coursework or an equivalent effort, demonstrate the applicant’s best writing skills, and be between 2,500 and 5,000 words in length. The essay can be emailed to admissions@lasierra.edu, faxed to 951.785.2477, or mailed to the Office of Admissions & Records.
