La Sierra University is registered as an Arboretum with American Public Gardens Association (APGA). The campus consists of 50 acres of irrigated landscaped areas, plus buildings and hardscaped areas. This includes:

  • over 250 different varieties of trees, countless varieties of native and imported plant varieties, ponds, water features, special gardens, landscaped walkways and malls, creative seating and gathering areas, sports fields, open areas, and much more. It provides a restful and scenic setting for students, visitors, faculty, and staff to enjoy year round.
  • a state of the art centralized, computer operated irrigation system that not only saves water, but also allows us to have much better control with less man hours involved. This system is capable of automatically adjusting each individual irrigation zone on campus daily based on real time weather data.
  • an indoor atrium of tropical plants in the middle of our library for the enjoyment of our students, staff, and visitors alike.
  • the "Path of the Just" walking mall featuring garden areas shaped like each of the continents of the world. At the north and south ends of this walking mall, there are half dome mosaics of both hemispheres.
  • a Koi pond surrounded by bamboo thickets to provide privacy and atmosphere.
