Students studying fine art gain basic experience in the artistic processes of several different studio areas. Candidates choose a primary area of concentration from painting, ceramics, printmaking, and textiles. The secondary emphasis may be chosen from painting, ceramics, printmaking, textiles, drawing, photography, sculpture, or graphic design. Many students plan to become commercial artists or art teachers.

The median annual wage for craft and fine artists was $49,160 in May 2017. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $22,630, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $101,120.
