Assistant Professor -Ph.D. - Department of History, Politics & Society

Brief Description

The Department of History, Politics & Society at La Sierra University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level to begin in Fall 2013. The successful applicant will teach three courses per quarter largely in the field of Sociology, with special emphases upon Global Studies, Ethnic Area Studies, and/or Transnationalism. Teaching an occasional course for University Studies or the Honors Program as part of the normal load will also be a possibility. Other duties include service (student advising and other aspects of departmental service, as well as participating on campus committees) and scholarship (scholarly research and presentation/publication in external academic communities).

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a PhD in Sociology, or in a related field but with a strong background in Sociology. Special consideration will be given to applicants with a demonstrated teaching or scholarship record in Sociology as well as interdisciplinary experience in the related fields noted above.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes an excellent benefits package with health, vision, and dental coverage.
