La Sierra University's Department of Music Summer Music Programs aim to promote a wide variety of musical experiences for the budding young musician.

Through performances, lessons, and master classes within a nurturing and supportive atmosphere, our goal is to encourage the love of music at a young age (grades three through high school) in an academically and musically enriching environment.

This is the second year of the Summer Music Camp Program, and it’s better than ever!
We still have our core curriculum which includes choir, music theory/composition, music history, and performing ensembles, but students will now have the opportunity to participate in a fun and exciting crafts class which will include instrument building.  Please take a look at our proposed schedule. And, like the Music Academy students, summer camp participants will have their own menu of electives to choose from.

We are launching our new program, The Summer Music Academy, which is geared towards junior high and high school students who are interested in working on their performance skills in both solo and ensembles settings. Though the emphasis will be on performance, students will still be enrolled in our core curriculum along with opportunities to sign up for music electives.  Please take a look at our proposed schedule to get a better idea of the days events. Students interested in attending the Music Academy program must audition or submit an audition recording by May 17th.

SUMMER MUSIC ACADEMY AUDITION GUIDELINES

In harmony with La Sierra University's mission to enlarge human understanding through scholarship, to educate the whole person, and to serve others in a global community, our mission is to also to advance the study and practice of music within the context of Christian values and ideals.

We will be providing a short devotional thought/worship service at the beginning of each day. This is a wonderful opportunity for both our programs to come and start the day together.

This year we will be offering an opportunities for students to sign-up for privates lessons or other electives during the last hours of camp. Parents can purchase up to TWO ELECTIVES for their child.

Music electives for Summer Music Camp participants (grades 3-6) will be $5 each.

Music electives for Summer Music Academy participants (grades 7-12) will be $10 each.

The electives are first-come-first-serve basis. We cannot guarantee everyone will get into each class. We ask that you choose your top three electives and we will place you accordingly.
