Transfer Admission Requirements
General Admissions Standards:
It is the purpose of the Admissions Committee to accept applicants who are qualified for their proposed curriculum and seem likely to profit from the educational experience. The Undergraduate Admissions Committee examines evidence of scholastic competence, moral and ethical standards, and significant qualities of character and personality.
A student applying by transferring from another college or university must file with the Office of Admissions complete transcripts of all studies taken at the secondary and college levels. Exception: Any transfer applicant who has been awarded an AA degree OR has completed 88 quarter units or more of transferable college credit may not be required to submit the high school transcript. A cumulative grade point college grade point average of 2.00 or higher is required. A transfer student is defined as a person who has completed 12 quarter (8 semester) units of transferable college credit.If appropriate college English and College Algebra classes have not been completed, La Sierra University placement testing will be required before registration. Students placing into pre-foundational class(es) must be enrolled in appropriate pre-foundational class(es) each quarter until all required pre-foundational class(es) are completed.International applicants need a score of 550 or higher on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or a score of 86 or higher on the Michigan Test of English Language Proficiency (MTELP) or a score of 6.5 or higher on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). If score is below these levels, ESL courses will be provided and required.
Honors Program
The Honors Program serves undergraduates of outstanding intellectual and creative ability in all schools of the University. For transfer eligibility, contact the Honors Program Coordinator at (951) 785-2310 or email honors@lasierra.edu. The Honors Program student takes a series of four interdisciplinary core seminars between the freshman and senior years. Other honors activities, a junior colloquium and a senior honors project round out the Honors Program. For more info, click here.
