Placement Test Information for Transfer Students

English Testing / Math Testing


Placement Testing Information for Transfer Students:

  • First, make sure you have submitted all of your official transcripts to the Office of Admissions.
  • Next, call the Learning Support & Testing Center at 951-785-2896 to set-up an appointment.
  • On the day of your scheduled test(s), bring a photo id (driver's license, passport, or school id) and $20 per exam ($40 is you are taking both English and Math) to the Learning Support & Testing Center in the basement of La Sierra Hall. We will provide you with all the supplies you will need to complete the test which will include scratch paper and pencils. The test is on the computer with some questions allowing a pop up calculator on the computer.

    The Placement Test Requirement Can be Waived If You:

    Have already completed course(s) comparable to La Sierra University's College Writing and/or College Algebra, OR have obtained a score of 3, 4, or 5 on the English and/or Calculus subjects in Advanced Placement. Official transcripts must be received by the Office of Admissions and reviewed to have the placement test requirement waived.

English Placement Testing

The Accuplacer Reading Comprehesion Test is a multiple-choice reading comprehension test. It is done on the computer and has no time limit. The Accuplacer Sentence Skills Test is a multiple choice test on the computer also with no time limit. The results of these tests will place the student into a Pre-Foundational English course or College Writing.

Math Placement Testing

The Accuplacer Arithmetic, Elementary Algebra, and College Level Mathematics tests are multiple-choice tests given on the computer with no time limits. A calculator function is on the computer and available for select problems. The results of the test will place the student into Introductory Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Trigonometry, or Calculus.
