International Education Week

November 9-13 (International Education Week)

We have moved our date a week earlier to accomodate our current academic calendar. International Education Week provides an opportunity for educational institutions to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. International Education Week aims to promote international understanding and exchange by encouraging the development of programs that prepare Americans to work in a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study in the United States. Celebrated since 2000 in more than 100 countries worldwide, La Sierra University is excited to host it's 9th annual International Education Week events during the week of November 17-21, 2019. We invite you to join our international community, study abroad, clubs and departments by attending one or more of the various campus events planned throughout the week.

Photo Contest

Every year around Fall quarter, the office of international student services holds a photo contest in honor of International Education Week. Share your global experience by entering your best photos snapped while studying in the U.S and abroad into our annual photo contest.

The goal of the photo contest is to present content that shows how an international student is engaged in 2020. A very interesting year to see the life of a student abroad.

Eligibility

This photo contest is open to ALL current La Sierra University students including students studying abroad and on missions trips for the current fiscal year.

Winners

Winning photos will be announced during International Education Week and may also be featured on our website and in future promotions and publications. First place photos from each category will be entered for the scholarship grand prize give away and will be placed in 1st ($300 Scholarship) and runner-up ($150 Scholarship).

Contest Rules

No filters are allowed on photos except black and white
No added effects or extensive use of photoshop
No panoramic photos
Avoid inappropriate subject matter such as drinking, swearing, nudity, or any unlawful behavior
Photo submissions cannot be featured in other promotional campaigns or violate privacy, publicity, or intellectual property rights
By submitting photos, you are granting the Office of International Student Services permission to use photos for promotional and education use related to International Education Week

Submission of Photo(s)

ALL photos must be in JPG and/or PNG file format with 200+
If you use your phone to take pictures, please avoid using filters or edits.
Please email photos to oiss@lasierra.edu, on your email subject put "International Education Week Photo Contest: Jimmy Buffet 919999". Make sure to include the title of your photo and a short descriptive caption (maximum 3 sentences).

- How are you as an international student engaged in 2020 into our annual photo contest. Deadline - November 27, 2020
Writing Contest
- Looking for poets, writers, or scribblers. Answer the following question (300 words or less):How have you as an international and/or study abroad student embodied and/or integrated the themes - engaged, resilient, and global - into your virtual student experience?
- Deadline - November 27, 2020. Submit work (poem, essay, song, etc) to oiss@lasierra.edu. MUST include name, student id, and title of submission. Work can be submitted in english or native language. Participants must be eligible for 2020-2021 scholarships.1st place $300 and runner up(s) $15
