The doctoral program provided me with new knowledge and skills that have helped me to design and carry out systemic change. La Sierra University amplified my understanding of the field by guiding me to apply relevant theories and current research to my work. It equipped me to think strategically to make critical decisions about the complete educational systems we operate in. It guided me to focus on meaningful changes—not the unnecessary upheavals resented by teachers and staff—that reliably improve teaching and student learning for sustainable improvement.

After a job transfer took me to California and away from my PhD program at a large state university, I discovered La Sierra University's School of Education. My LSU courses were stimulating, thought provoking and applicable to my career. Most importantly, the faculty were active scholars, superior teachers and wonderful people who were worthy of emulation both inside and outside the classroom.

Rachel Timmons, EdD

I sincerely appreciate my learning experience in the doctoral program in the School of Education at LSU. The Christian atmosphere was evident and faculty and staff lived their beliefs through relationships with students and through the integration of faith and learning in each class. The professors were knowledgeable in their subject areas, clear in their expectations yet flexible enough to allow for critical and creative thinking. My advisor was very helpful and provided the one-to-one mentoring needed to succeed in a doctoral program. I enjoyed the small class sizes and the collegial fellowship among the students. The accessibility of the campus also allowed me to be able to coordinate evening classes with my work schedule.

LSU and its doctoral program in the School of Education is not only a place for scholars to learn but also to open every individual's potential. Its rigorous teaching energized my ability to serve my students, my homeland and invigorated my career.

By virtue of being enrolled in the doctoral program, I was rapidly promoted through the ranks of high school Assistant Principal and Principal to Categorical Program Coordinator and on to the position of Director, K-12 Curriculum. La Sierra University deserves the credit for providing enlightenment on the latest theories of administrative leadership and for my personal intellectual and professional growth.

Peter Hopping, EdD

Santiago High School

I have a confidence both professionally and personally that has been bolstered in large part due to personal connections that I was able to form with many of my professors and classmates while attending LSU. Lively and enlightening discussions occurred on a nightly basis in the classrooms of LSU and it is a combination of these discussions and relationships that have made a lasting impression upon me. This series of interactions will help to influence and guide my decision making processes for the rest of my life.

The academic regimen La Sierra University's School of Education doctoral program, as I experienced it, fostered my understanding of, and appreciation for, contemporary leadership theories, practices, and essential applications that have helped me to maximize effectiveness as an educational leader. I became a leader more committed and honed to moral, strategic and transformational leadership, a mean by which to vitalize other educational leaders and systems.

Adrienne D. Clansy

School Psychologist Intern
Agua Dulce Unified School District

From the office personnel to the professors, I truly felt that I had a team who cared for me as an individual and gave me the support and assistance I needed throughout my graduate education. It was an added value to have professors who were practicing school psychologists and had connections to other school psychologists in the field. This provided a strong networking system of professional guidance and support.

Paige Sautner

Lake Elsinore Unified School District
School Psychologist

My time spent at La Sierra University gave me more than professional success; it added personal fulfillment and growth. La Sierra University was much different than previous graduate programs and colleges I had attended. It is a place of both intellectual growth and personal cultivation. I am so grateful to have attended such a warm and welcoming university.

Clayton Koh

Elementary Teacher, Loma Linda Academy

The thing I appreciated the most about my program was having Christian professors that shaped my worldview. They believe in the whole person, addressing the needs of the whole person, not just mentally or academically. They also made class fun to go to. Several classes were hands-on, case studies, human jigsaw, things we had to do. They modeled good teaching and leadership so that the class wasn't just about course content, but I learned from the way they taught too.
