Welcome to a wonderful adventure as you begin your freshmen year of college! The faculty and staff of La Sierra University welcome you to campus and your orientation activities. We are so pleased to have you and have been working hard to insure that your college experience is terrific. Thank You for choosing La Sierra University!
IGNITE 2014 - Mt. High Experience will start on campus the morning of September 24. IGNITE check-in is from 8:00 am - 1:00pm on Wednesday, September 24. We will leave La Sierra University at 2:00pm and travel to Pine Summit Camp in Big Bear, CA. It is required for ALL freshmen students. We will be staying at Pine Summit from September 24 - 26. IGNITE is very important and actually begins your academic career. By the end of IGNITE you will know some of the faculty, staff, student leaders, and members of your class. In addition, there will be planned activities that will help you prepare yourself for a successful school year.
We strongly encourage you register early. The Medical History Form, Medical Treatment Authorization, and Waiver of Liability need to be filled out and sent to Student Life in order to be officially approved. If you are under 18 a parent signature is required. Options for submission:1. You can bring them in person to the Student Life office. We would love to meet you. (If you are able to come in person and we will already have the forms printed, you will just need to sign them // If you are under 18 you parents will need to come as well.) 2. The Final check-in process for IGNITE 2014. This will be located on the Campus Mall and Founders Green. Registration will be located at the purple star. This is the time that you will check-in on campus before traveling to Pine Summit. All of your registration should already be completed and approved before this time.
Following registration there will be activities on campus in which you are able to start to meet fellow Freshmen, play games, and experience La Sierra University.
Q and A:
1. Am I required to attend?
Yes, you get to attend :) You are required to attend and are charged a non-refundable orientation fee. This has already been charged to your fall quarter financial statement.
2. I have to coach a football team, lead out in Pathfinders, or go to Disneyland... may I leave during IGNITE to do this?
Sorry, but no. This orientation is an important time for all freshmen and you will be required to stay on campus and at Pine Summit the entire time. Please make arrangements to have any outside activities covered. IGNITE start and end times are: 1:00pm Wednesday, September 24 - 2:00pm Friday, September 26.
3. My parents want to come and see me during this time will they able to come?
Once you have checked-in on Wednesday, September 24 from 8:00am - 1:00pm, which your parents are more than welcome for this process, you will have officially started IGNITE. Please let your parents know that you are required to be with your classmates and there will not be time for you to go off campus with them or have them visit Pine Summit.
4. May I leave to go to a doctor's appointment?
No, please schedule all appointments before or after IGNITE.
5. My friends want to take me out to eat during orientation, may I go with them?
The purpose of orientation is to make new friends in your class. This requires that you stay on campus and at Pine Summit.
6. May I leave campus during the day to get some fast food during orientation?
No, you will need to eat with your classmates on campus and at Pine Summit.
7. What if I get sick during orientation?
We have a Health Services staffed with medical professionals and have 24 hour coverage. Your health needs will be met.
8.Will we be sitting in meetings all day?
That would be really boring so, NO! Activities have been planned to get us all moving and have some fun.
9. Do I have to bring money for food?
No your orientation fee pays for it and we will eat in the cafeteria here on campus and at Pine Summit.
10. Who do I talk to if I absolutely can't attend IGNITE 2014 -Mt. High Experience?
If you feel that there is absolutely no way you can attend IGNITE 2014 - Mt. High Experience you will need to still fill out the registration form. (https://orgsync.com/84348/forms/101380). You will click “No” I am unable to attend. You will need to write a letter explaining your reason for not being able to attend. At the bottom of this form you are able to upload a doctors note or any other document supporting your appeal. Please know that the orientation fee is non-refundable. Your appeal will be reviewed by the VP of Student Life. Depending on the severity of your situation, your appeal may be approved or denied. If your appeal was denied and you have further questions, you may contact Yami Bazan, VP of Student Life at email@example.com.
11.When is the earliest I can come for orientation?
Students that will be living in the dorms (“Residential Students”) will need to move-in Tuesday, September 23 from 8:00am - 5:00pm. Out of state students can make earlier accommodations with your Residential Dean!

Everyone is required to check-in on Wednesday, September 24 from 8:00am - 1:00pm
12. Who can I call for more information?

13.What about registration?

14. What is Eagles Landing?
The Eagles Landing is when the new freshman, now Golden Eagles, have arrived on campus ready to move into their new residential dormitory.
Eagles Landing is on Tuesday, September 23 from 8:00am - 5:00pm. If you have not received room confirmation, please email your respective Dean.
