Peru Tour Itinerary 2015

MAR 25 • LAX–LIMA-PUNO (Fri) Projected 10 AM LAX check-in Depart LAX and arrive Lima. Meals (in flight) LD MAR 26 • PUNO/LAKE TITICACA (Sat) Ride taxi cholos and board launches for worship at Lake Titicaca’s “floating islands.” Take an exquisite Incan meal prepared in clay pots over an open fire at an eighteenth-century working hacienda—with sheep, llamas and alpacas looking on. Conde de Lemos Inn BL MAR 27 • PUNO–PLATERIA–CUSCO (Sun) Visit Plateria, “mother school” locus of the first indigen-ous school system in the Peruvian Andes. Motor coach through the majestic Andes to Cusco, feasting on the tour’s traditional “avocado orgy” picnic en route. Explore this Inca Empire capitol. Corihuasi Hotel BL MAR 28 • CUSCO (Mon) Observe market openings. Tour Cusco’s Cathedral. Take lunch at El Truco restaurant followed by a visit to the Coricancha Temple with its pre-Inca, Inca, and Colonial art and architecture. Late afternoon is for shopping. BL MAR 29 • CUSCO–MACHU PICCHU–CUSCO (Tue) Enjoy the spectacular scenery of mountain gorges and rivers of the Sacred Valley en route to Machu Picchu, one of the world’s true wonders. Sit in silence and experience awe and reverence amidst these natural forms and human creations. The more energetic may elect to climb Huayna Picchu or hike to the Sun Gate and the Inca trail. B MAR 30 • CUSCO–LIMA (Wed) Fly to Lima. Take a city tour featuring ADRA/Peru, Lima’s Plaza de Armas, Plaza San Martin, San Francisco Church and monastery, library, and catacombs. Hotel Betsy BL MAR 31 • LIMA–IQUITOS–AMAZON LODGE (Thu) Early morning flight to the Amazon. Tour the floating city of Belen, take brunch at the Ana Stahl Clinic, trade with tribes people, stroll through an Amazon village, see rain forest animals at a family zoo. Dine by candle light (no electricity here!) at an Amazon lodge. After a night canoe ride, bed down under a thatched roof in fully screened rooms to the sounds of the jungle. Cumaceba Lodge BLD APR 1 • AMAZON (Fri) Early risers engage in bird watching and porpoise viewing. Debrief time. Take a jungle walk. Following lunch, try fishing for piranha, then cruise up-river for an end-of-tour dinner and airport transfer. BL APR 2 • LIMA–LAX (Sa) Projected 8:25 AM LAX flight arrival Arrive LAX tired, happy, and inspired by the work of forbears Fernando and Ana Stahl who made a marked diff- erence in this world that God so loved!
