Testing: Michigan Test
Students need to contact the director to schedule a test. Please call (951) 785-2896 or email email@example.com. A current photo id, like a passport or driver's license, and $35 is needed to take the test.
This test is administered to international students who were educated in countries other than the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia or New Zealand. Students with O levels are exempt from this exam. The exam consists of two sections--language and listening proficiency. Students have 75 minutes (1 hour & 15 minutes) to complete the language proficiency section, while the listening section runs for approximately 20 minutes. Both sections of the exam are based on multiple-choice questions.
The content and format of the exam is roughly similar to the TOEFL test.
Students who score 86%ile average and at least 77%ile in Language Proficiency, may take the college writing test, and be placed on the basis of these results. Students who score 77-85%ile average may register for 2 courses in English as a Second Language and 2 additional courses. Finally, students who score 76%ile average and below will register for English as a Second Language courses only. The michgan language exam may be retaken after 3 months
