How do I know if I have to take a placement test?

All incoming La Sierra University students are required to take the math and English placement test before registering for classes, unless they have already completed College Algebra and/or College English with a grade of C or better. Please click on the link that pertains to you for more information on placement testing and scheduling


English Placement Testing

Accuplacer:

The Accuplacer Reading Comprehesion Test is a multiple-choice reading comprehension test. It is done on the computer and has no time limit. The Accuplacer Sentence Skills Test is a multiple choice test on the computer also with no time limit. The results of these tests will place the student into a Basic Skills English course or College Writing.

Math Placement Testing

 

Accuplacer:

The Accuplacer Arithmetic, Elementary Algebra, and College Level Mathematics tests are multiple-choice tests given on the computer with no time limits. A calculator function is on the computer and available for select problems. The results of the test will place the student into Introductory Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Trigonometry, or Calculus.
