La Sierra Campus Library

The University Library currently contains over 650,000 volumes in various formats. Students, faculty, and visitors may peruse more than 206,000 volumes in book collections, about 48,000 bound journal volumes representing more than 1,200 currently received journal titles, plus extensive microfilm and microfiche collections. Our online databases and indexes provide full-text access to more than 17,400 full-text periodical titles.

Special Collections

Special collections held by the library include resources in the Library Heritage Room and Ellen G. White Study Center pertaining to the history of Adventism. The Heritage Room’s notable collection of educational materials covers the origin and development of the Seventh-day Adventist education system. The William M. Landeen Collection on the History of Christianity contains materials related to the Protestant Reformation.

Library Services

The library's reference and circulation staffs and interlibrary loan services are available to assist faculty and students find needed information for study or research purposes. Online computer and CD ROM databases facilitate rapid location of information sources, and computer and fax networks link to area and remote libraries. The library's membership in the Center for Research Libraries allows it to place an extensive collection of primary research materials within easy access of any user. In addition, the Curriculum Resource Center supports the teacher education programs of the university. 

Information Networks

The Library participates in several local, regional, and national information networks, providing students and faculty with access to more than 40 California libraries through the LINK+ network. On-demand delivery of library materials from more than 85 public, academic, special, and other libraries is possible through the San Bernardino, Inyo, Riverside Counties United Library Service (SIRCULS). Interlibrary loans may be expedited with several thousand libraries throughout North American via the OCLC Interlibrary Loan network. Many of our databases are obtained through the Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium (SCELC).
