State Authorization

States have the authority to regulate out-of-state post-secondary institutions that offer or participate in activities within their borders to protect students, consumers, the general public, and state interests. State authorization involves obtaining permission to carry out certain activities in other states.

Acquiring authorization from another state to conduct business can be complex, requiring documentation, renewals, and compliance with regulations.

Staying in compliance from the state of California

Our university offers online courses, but before enrolling in an online course, ensure the following criteria are met.: 

1. Plan on doing your coursework in the state of California.
2. If you know you will not be in California, check your intended state, listed below, to review our authorized or online-only states.
3. Keep in mind that not all states are authorized for online learning.
4. Before enrolling, get approval from the financial aid or the registrar's office.

Remember that taking online courses requires approval while not physically in California.
