State Location and Relocation
A student's location must be determined at the time of the student's initial enrollment in an educational program and upon La Sierra University's formal receipt of information from the student that the student's local address has changed to another state.
Both prospective and current students must understand that licensing and authorization requirements vary by State. Relocating during a program to another state could significantly impact your ability to continue in the program and meet the eligibility requirements of that State. If you are considering relocating, please inform your program administrator and contact the registrar's office to complete the necessary documentation.
What is meant by local address?
Your local address is where you will be while working on your coursework. We understand that you may move out of State or vacation over the summer, but if you are enrolled in a program and plan to continue with your coursework while out of State, our registrar's office must be notified. This would constitute distance learning, and we may not have authorization for the State in which you relocate-temporally or otherwise.
Federal regulation
La Sierra University has developed a process to comply with the Code of Federal Regulations found on this website.
An institution must make a determination regarding the State in which a student is located at the time of the student's initial enrollment in an educational program and, if applicable, upon formal receipt of information from the student, in accordance with the institution's procedures, that the student's location has changed to another State. Title 34, Subtitle B Chapter VI, Part 600 Subpart A/600.09
How do you update your current local address?
To update your current local address, go to your student portal. In the first notification, you will see a link to update your current local address. You can also click here to update. Whether your address change is temporary or permanent, it's important that it matches where you plan to study.
By keeping your local address up to date, you're not just enabling La Sierra University to offer essential health and safety services, but also ensuring you're connected to local resources, and keeping everyone safe, connected, and informed. Your security and well-being are our top priority.
How will I be alerted about location changes?
You will receive notifications about any changes in location through various channels. You will receive an official bi-annual message every January and June, a permanent announcement will be posted on your profile home page, and a quarterly reminder will come via email with other important La Sierra acknowledgments or communications.
