Qualified Charitable Distribution
Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD), also called IRA Charitable Rollover
What is it?
Taxpayers age 70 ½ and older can make gifts of up $100,000 per year from an IRA to nonprofits including La Sierra University without increasing your taxable income as long as the IRA Custodian sends the funds directly to La Sierra University. This can satisfy all or part of your annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).
Please note that IRA Rollover (QCD) gifts do not qualify for a charitable deduction.
How to give:
Your IRA Custodian (ex: Fidelity, Schwab, etc.) may have a form for you to request a transfer from your IRA account to La Sierra University. Or, we have one HERE you can use.
All gifts, including Qualified Charitable Distribution gifts, should be sent to the Attention of Gift Records in La Sierra University Advancement for processing and acknowledgement. If you wish for your gift to be used for a specific purpose, contact Christine Cales at 951-785-2386 or ccales@lasierra.edu.
For wire transfer information and the La Sierra University TAX ID #, please call Christine Cales at ccales@lasierra.edu or 951-785-2386.
For more Information:
Contact Planned Giving Officer Christine Cales (951-785-2386 or ccales@lasierra.edu) or Gift Records Officer at 951-785-2500.
