About the Artist

Objects often become metaphors for power, class or strength: owning or displaying certain objects can allow their owner to weave a narrative about themselves. Erynn is fascinated by this desire to collect and showcase items and how the collector projects themselves onto their collection.

The last several years Erynn has focused specifically on plants and animals and how humans use them to feel connected to nature or showcase desired traits about themselves. Erynn is also interested in how the desire to collect often wreaks havoc on nature, leading to the demise of the very thing the collector holds dear. Art has the power to build bridges between opposing sides, creating a neutral space for dialogue that can influence public opinion and policy. For this reason, Erynn has chosen to use her artistic practice to advocate for the conservation of animal and plant species.

Erynn received her MA in painting from CSU Northridge and her MFA in printmaking from CSU Long Beach. Erynn has been featured professionally in exhibits across California and is represented by Bermudez Projects.
