Participants (1984-2016)
The Madaba Plains Project - Tall al-ʿUmayri excavated for a total of 18 seasons between 1984 and 2016. During that time, more than 700 unique persons participated in the project, with many joining the excavation over multiple seasons. In addition to the staff, students, and volunteers who made the project possible, MPP-U wishes to acknowledge the many invaluable local individuals who made such a difference in advancing the project and its research. Thank you to everyone who participated in these field seasons! (Click on the image to view the PDF list of unique participants.)

ʿUmayri-CEP
The ʿUmayri Community Ethnographic Project began in 2012 with the intent of exploring the history of the local Jordanian workmen of the Madaba Plains Project - Tall al-ʿUmayri, including familial relationships and their history with the land. Many of the workmen were involved with the excavation project since its inception in 1984.
The ʿUmayri Community Ethnographic Project is an ongoing research component of both MPP-U and the Baluʿa Regional Archaeological Project (BRAP), being led by principal investigators Monique Roddy and Carolyn Waldron. (Click on the brochure to learn more about the project and some of the families involved.)
