The Honors Program is willing to consider all highly motivated applicants. However, successful Honors students generally meet the following criteria:

Incoming first-year students

Students are available for consideration with a minimum high school GPA of 3.75 and a minimum combined SAT score of 1130, or the equivalent ACT score (composite of 25)*. Due to limited space in the program, not everyone who applies is accepted.  Those who are accepted tend to excel in at least several of the following areas:

• High school GPA
• Test scores
• Extracurricular activities and/or awards
• Application essay

* For Fall 2021, if you haven't or couldn't take the SAT/ACT test, your Honors application will determined on other factors: GPA, transcript, class rank, list of services and extracurriculars, and the Honors entrance essay.

Transfer students

Students transferring in with at least 15 quarter (10 semester) units are available for consideration with a minimum college GPA of 3.75.  Due to limited space in the program, not everyone who applies is accepted.  Those who are accepted tend to excel in at least several of the following areas:

• College GPA
• 1-2 letters of recommendation from faculty
• Extracurricular activities and/or awards
• Application essay

Application essay

Near the end of your application to the Honors Program, you will find an essay prompt. Note that the Admissions Committee is looking for serious thought put into your essay. A good response will address the following:

• What have been some influential people, moments, and/or factors in your life?
• How have these influences shaped you as a person?
• What have they revealed to you about your beliefs, values, fears, and aspirations?

Diversity

The Honors Program recognizes the value of diversity in all areas, and in its cohort formation considers aspects of background (race, ethnicity, gender, religion, etc.) and intended academic major.

To apply, complete the Honors Program online application. Note that this application is in addition to the one for entrance to La Sierra University. Admission to La Sierra University is a prerequisite for admission to the Honors Program.
