Special Collections: Special Collections

The La Sierra University Library Special Collections is housed in the Heritage Room and is also home to the University Archives.

Welcome

Welcome to the La Sierra University Library Special Collections and Archives, located in the Heritage Room. The Heritage Room is located on the first (bottom) floor of the LSU Library. We are home to the La Sierra University archives, Seventh-day Adventist history collections, and other special collections of rare books, manuscripts, photographs, and more. Browse the tabs at the top to explore our holdings.

The Special Collections area supports the Library in its mission to enhance the quality of the academic experience by supporting the teaching, learning, and research activities of the faculty and students of La Sierra University.

Visiting the Heritage Room

The Heritage Room does not currently have open hours. If you wish to access a specific Heritage Room book, SDA magazine, photographs, files, or archival items, contact Special Collections Librarian Michelle Rojas to set up an appointment (see the Heritage Room Information box at left). Heritage Room appointments are available during the LSU Library open hours; a time within the 9-5 workday is preferred.

The Heritage Room is located on the first (bottom) floor of the LSU Library, directly to the left of the stairs or to the right when exiting the elevator. See our Library map for the first floor here. See a picture of the Heritage Room door here. A photocopier/scanner is available. Copies are 10 cents a page and payable only in cash, while scans are free. Photocopying Guidelines

Students with an SDA-related assignment should meet with a Reference Librarian first to find sources, and then only make a Heritage Room appointment if they need to find a specific resource that is only available in the Heritage Room.

Community patrons may make a Heritage Room appointment to access publications and resources that are not readily available by other methods or are unique to the Heritage Room. Contact Special Collections Librarian Michelle Rojas to set up a Heritage Room appointment (see the box at left) during the Library's open hours. See the instructions for getting to and entering the Library hereCampus Maps & Directions , Library Service to Community Patrons
