MBA Programs

MBA for Health Care Professionals

Modern health care is experiencing challenges like never before. Health care professionals are facing constant changes in knowledge and technology that require more than just a high level of competency and skill. They must also become business strategists who balance both the practice and business sides of health care. In the MBA in Health Care Management program, you will learn to understand the business of medicine and create innovative solutions to today's challenges.

The program offers real-world applications, an enriched classroom experience, a focus on ethics and leadership, the opportunity to apply entrepreneurial thought, and chances for growth in your career and personal life. Designed especially for health care professionals, this degree comprises 48 degree units including concentration and integration classes. Additional foundational coursework may also be required.

MBA in Management for Working Professionals

The MBA in Management for working professionals at La Sierra is designed for the real lives of busy, working professionals. Geared toward the adult learner and populated with your peers, the program offers real-world applications, an enriched classroom experience, a focus on ethics and leadership, and the development of entrepreneurial thinking skills that you don't have to wait to use.

It will help you build a strong network of colleagues and find innovative solutions for the business challenges of today. The MBA in Management compromises 48 degree units of coursework, including diversification and integration classes. Additional foundation coursework may also be required.

Program Structure & Requirements

With a flexible, convenient schedule, the MBA program typically features two four-unit courses per quarter. Each course is offered one night a week for six weeks in addition to some online content, typically totaling eight units per quarter. Many students can complete the entire program in 24 months or less. In addition, most of the foundation classes are conveniently offered online. With small class sizes you get more interaction with your professors as well as immersion in a better learning environment, all at a faster rate of completion.

Foundation Courses | 0-16 Units

A student admitted to the MBA program is eligible to enroll in any foundation course. No foundation course may be used as an MBA program elective. A student may waive a foundation course based on prior coursework, portfolio review, or life- or work experience, or by taking a course for credit. Foundation courses (except FNCE 517) are offered in an online format.

Integration | 32 Units

This distinctive body of La Sierra courses is designed to build competency in decision-making and in core business skill areas. Leadership and social consciousness expand the student's commitment to proactive moral action and nurture a dedication to living with integrity, justice, and compassion in today's rapidly changing world.

Concentration / Electives | 16 Units 

A student may complete his or her MBA program with a concentration in Health Care Management or in Management. Up to 12 units of appropriate graduate-level coursework from another accredited institution may be transferred into the MBA program with the approval of the dean.

To earn a La Sierra University MBA, a student must:

  • Complete a minimum of 48 units of required regular coursework (integrative and concentration electives);
  • Complete MBA foundation requirements by prior coursework, earning academic credit, or by life- or work-experience via portfolio review;
  • Earn a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or above in the MBA program.
