Deposit Refund

The full international F1 student deposit of $3000 can be request if you have:

  1. Withdrawn your La Sierra University application or preI-20 application prior to entering the United States.
  2. Received an I-20 from La Sierra University but were denied an F1 visa by the U.S. government.
  3. Received an I-20 and successfully gotten your F1 visa but prior to entering the U.S. you chose to withdraw your application for personal reasons.
  4. Completed your program of study at La Sierra University.
  5. Requested and applied for optional practical training (OPT)
  6. Requested transfer to a different institution in the U.S. after completing a minimum of one quarter at La Sierra University.
  7. Chosen to abandon or leave your program of studies for personal reasons (i.e., personal or family emergency, medical withdrawal, military service, etc.)

International F1 students can “drop” their international deposit into their student account ONLY during their last quarter of studies at La Sierra University.

A partial (50%) international F1 deposit of $1500 will apply in the following situations:

  1. Student completes I-20 process, successfully gets an F1 visa, and enters the U.S. but fails to register for quarter of admission. *
  2. Student completes I-20 process, successfully gets an F1 visa, and requests immediate transfer to another university in first quarter of admission. *

*Exceptions may apply and an appeal can be made within 30 days of failure to register or upon request to immediately transfer during first quarter of admission. Please submit exception request in writing to oiss@lasierra.edu.
