Non-Dorm Housing

La Sierra University recognizes that changes in student population trends in recent years have resulted in alternative housing needs for many students.  In response to such needs, La Sierra University provides a variety of housing options for students.  When the demand allows, we also provide such housing for faculty and staff as well.  University Housing Policy, however, requires undergraduate students who are under 21 to live in one of the Campus Residence Halls.  Non-dorm housing (apartments, houses, etc.) are designated for residency by married students, those with children who reside with them, graduate students, or those students who are at least 21 years of age.  To request an exception to the policy, students can submit the "Village Residence Petition" which is a form available in the student on-line portal. Questions about the petition form or the necessary supporting documentation can be directed to the Secretary in the Office of Residential Life at:   (951) 785-2017 .

For more details about the University's Housing Policies, please see the Student Handbook which is available on-line. Click Here The Housing Policy section begins on page 60.

To be considered for housing, fill out the Application(required) and Priority Assignment(optional) forms and submit them to the office of Business Development and Property Management located in the Administration Building, Room #239

Sierra Vista Apartments

The Sierra Vista Apartments offer 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units located about 2 blocks from the campus. At Sierra Vista, residents enjoy the benefit of having basic utilities included in the monthly rent along with appliances (stove, refrigerator & dishwasher in every unit). Some units have undergone extensive renovations which is why the monthly rents have a range for each type of unit.

Walnut Grove Apartments

The Walnut Grove Apartments are located about 1 ½ blocks from campus.  Most units are 2 bedroom/1 bath (one unit is a 1 bedroom handicap accessible unit).  Walnut Grove residents are required to pay for electric & sewer separately, but both trash and water are included in the monthly rent. Many units have undergone extensive renovations and monthly rent amounts vary accordingly. Each unit comes with stove and refrigerator.

Raley Cottages

The Raley Cottages are quaint 1 bedroom/1 bath homes built nearly 100 years ago. They are the oldest and most affordable housing option within campus housing. Residents there enjoy living within the campus gates, in very close proximity to any area of campus. Basic utilities are included at the cottages and both a stove and refrigerator are provided as well.

Town Homes/Family Houses

In addition to the apartments and cottages, the university also provides a number of Town homes and Houses, most of which are located within 2 blocks of the campus. Sizes range from 1 to 5 bedrooms, with a variety of styles and amenities. Many are pet friendly, so be sure to inquire about those if you want to bring along your pet (some restrictions apply). At most of these properties, utilities are the responsibility of the resident.   Some come with appliances, so inquire for more information.

As a Seventh-Day Adventist higher education institution focused on its academic and spiritual mission, the university does not host wedding events (ceremonies, receptions, photo sessions, parties, etc) on campus.  We encourage members of the university community to utilize the La Sierra University Church or one of the many local churches or other venues in our area for wedding events. Advanced reservations are required for all groups, so be sure to call in advance for more information.
