Research Emphasis Week (REW) is a long-standing tradition at La Sierra University.  Usually held the last week of May, REW has historically been a highlight of the school year -- one that showcases the best and most outstanding research, scholarship and creative activities from all La Sierra University students. 

The department faculty hand-pick student projects to submit for paper or poster presentation at REW.  Depending on the number of submissions, students are granted either a poster spot or presentation slot in front of their peers, professors, and other invited guests.  A committee then judges the posters and papers and awards 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes.

Poster Submission Process

  1. Consider a research project that you have worked on this year or will finish by May 2026.  
  2. With faculty approval, complete the registration form below.  (Please do not register until you’ve talked with your faculty mentor.)  The information you provide here will not only register you for participation in REW, but will also be used to produce a program for the week that will be made available to the entire campus. (For group projects, the lead author should register for the group, but list all the collaborators’ names and email addresses where requested.)
  3. Ask your faculty mentor to fill out the Faculty Recommendation Form.
  4. Registration needs to include both completed forms -- student registration and faculty recommendation.
  5. Poster PDFs must be emailed to [email protected]by May 17, 2026 for review before being physically placed in the Price Science Complex and Cossentine Hall.
  6. If selected, you will be presenting your poster during REW on May 27, 2026 and be eligible for a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place award.

Registration deadline: May 3, 2026.
Poster Submission deadline:  May 17, 2026.

Paper Submission Process

  1. Consider a 5-10 page research paper that you have worked on this year or will be finished with (and graded) by May 2026.  We welcome applications from all La Sierra University students across all majors!
  2. With faculty approval, complete the registration form below.  (Please do not register until you’ve talked with your faculty mentor.)  The information you provide here will not only register you for participation in REW, but will also be used to produce a program for the week that will be made available to the entire campus.
  3. After completing the registration form, please submit your paper to [email protected] ; subject: REW paper submission
  4. Ask your faculty mentor to fill out the Faculty Recommendation Form.
  5. Registration needs to include both completed forms -- student registration and faculty recommendation.
  6. If selected, you will be presenting your paper in a roundtable session during REW on May 27, 2026, and be eligible for a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place award.

Registration deadline: May 3, 2026.
