Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! We’d love to show you around our residence halls. To make sure we’re ready for your visit, please schedule your tour in advance.

For the full experience, we recommend scheduling a campus visitYou’ll see our beautiful campus, meet students and staff, and explore everything we have to offer. Just be sure to let them know you’d like to tour the dorms!

For the most up-to-date information on residence hall costs, please see the Tuition Cost Sheet through Financial Services. Your total will depend on the room you choose, plus your meal plan.

Note: All students living in residence halls are required to have a meal plan.

Yes! We encourage you to make your residence hall room feel like a home away from home. Just be sure to agree with your roommate on decorations to keep your shared space comfortable for both of you.

Each room comes with the basic furniture you need. You are welcome to bring additional items, but any large furniture must be pre-approved by a Dean. Remember, if you move rooms or check out at the end of the year, you must take all your personal items with you. Residence hall furniture cannot be stored and must remain in your room.

For a full list of decoration do’s and don’ts, please see the Residential Life Handbook.

Your safety is a top priority at the University. All residence halls are secured with ID card access, and rooms are only accessible to residents. Our Campus Safety and Security team, along with Residential Life staff, work together to maintain a safe environment around the clock.

Every door is locked, and our staff are here to ensure you can focus on living, learning, and building community with peace of mind.

Yes, curfews are in place to support your safety, wellbeing, and success. Research shows that structured routines, including regular sleep schedules, improve academic performance, especially for first-year students adjusting to college life. Curfews also provide daily "touch points" with residence hall staff, helping ensure residents are safe and supported.

Curfew times are based on class standing:

  • Freshmen: 1:00 AM

  • Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors, Graduate Students: 6:00 AM

Freshmen Incentive: Freshmen who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and are in good standing with the residence hall and campus may earn a curfew extension starting their second quarteras a resident. The schedule is as follows:

  • 1st incentive quarter: 2:00 AM

  • 2nd incentive quarter: 6:00 AM

By encouraging consistent routines and providing opportunities to check in on residents, our curfew policy creates a safe, balanced, and supportive environmentwhere students can thrive academically and personally.

Yes, limited housing is available over academic breaks for students with extenuating circumstances. Students who need to stay, such as out-of-state or international students, must submit a break housing application.

Applications for break housing a couple of weeks before the start of each holiday period, and students will be notified via email. Space is limited, so be sure to watch your email and submit your request early.

We understand that some students may need specific housing accommodations, and we work closely with the Office of Accessibility Services to make sure those needs are met. To request accommodations, you must first register with the Office of Accessibility Services.

To ensure requests are considered for the upcoming quarter, submit them by the following deadlines:

Fall Quarter: September 1
Winter Quarter: December 15
Spring Quarter: March 15

Requests submitted after these dates will still be reviewed, but accommodations may not be guaranteed for that quarter.

Yes, single-occupancy rooms are available by request. While double-occupancy is standard, students may request a single room if space allows. Please note that single-occupancy comes with a high additional cost compared to the standard double.

Single rooms are not guaranteed and are assigned based on availability and the timing of the request. In some cases, if space is needed to accommodate an incoming resident, a student may be reassigned to double-occupancy and charged then charged standard double rate.

We understand that living on campus may not be the right fit for every student. Some choose to live with family, while others feel ready to take the next step toward independent living. Whatever your reason, we are always glad you were part of our residential community and want to help you navigate your options.

There are a few important policies to be aware of if you are considering living off campus.

Off-Campus Housing Policy

Unmarried students under the age of 21 are required to live on campus unless they meet one of the approved exceptions below. Students may petition to live off campus if they are:

  • Living with their parents or a legal guardian
  • Living with a blood relative who is at least 25 years old (cousins are not approved)
  • Living with a University faculty or staff member
  • Experiencing financial hardship (reviewed by the financial committee)
  • Married or have a dependent child
  • Managing a medical condition that cannot be accommodated on campus
  • Turning 21 within the first five weeks of the academic quarter

*Students enrolled in fewer than 8 units may live off campus.

Non-Dorm Housing Options

The University recognizes that student housing needs vary and offers alternative, non-dorm housing options when available. These options may also be extended to faculty and staff when demand allows.

Please note that Residential Life does not manage off-campus or non-dorm housing. For information and application details, visit Property Management & Business Development.
