The thoughtfully curated Guided Pathways to Success Team is designed to help you succeed in all areas of your college experience. Supportive professionals are ready to guide you along the correct Guided Pathway with a combination of tools that include educational development, personalized mentoring, college and career counseling, resource management, student financial support services, transfer guidance and so much more to help you make the most of your unique La Sierra experience.
Dr. Marvin Payne
Dr. Marvin Payne serves as Project Director for Guided Pathways to Success. He has a background in biochemistry and biology as well as numerous leadership roles on campus over the years. He is leading both of the university's Title V grants.
Dr. Jennifer Helbley
Dr. Jennifer Helbley is Project Director for the Sustainability Studies Program grant. She works to develop academic degree pathways and multi-year roadmaps. She also assists with the grant by mentoring advisors, implementing intervention and retention programs for student success.
Dr. Michael Gutierrez
As Guided Pathways Mentor, Dr. Michael Gutierrez works with STEM pathway students on a regular basis. He is responsible for the development of the 8-week summer research program to be held for select community college students on La Sierra’s campus each year.
Dr. Eric Vega
As STEM Bridge Coordinator, Dr. Eric Vega collaborates with various STEM departments on campus to create an intensive, annual program for incoming freshmen and transfer students which strengthens access and belonging and helps students feel better equipped as they begin at La Sierra.
Amy Wolf
Amy Wolf is a La Sierra alumna and Director of Grant Operations, assisting with management across the university's Title V grants. She provides support to the Title V team, gathers data for reporting and grant guidance, and works to contribute to student success across the university.
Andrea Schroer
Andrea is a La Sierra alum and the Financial Literacy specialist. She develops informative modules for Guided Pathways to Success students to inform and empower their financial success. She also assits pre-transfer students in the application process to ensure a user friendly process.
Tabetha Johnson
Tabetha Johnson is the Director of Outreach for the Sustainability Studies Program. She utilizes multi-media marketing expertise to recruit students into this dynamic program. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in Leadership: Educational Administration.
Brenda Delfino
STEM Pathways Coordinator, Brenda Delfino, is a La Sierra alumna and comes to us from the Chemistry department. She works on developing Guided Pathways programs as well as overseeing our Peer Mentoring programs.
Hew Murdoch
Hew Murdoch is a La Sierra alumnus, avid traveler and lover of nature. Hew is the STEM Outreach Coordinator, in charge of helping implement STEM Education pathways through the STEM Teacher Training grant. He also leads student research initiatives in the La Sierra Herpetology Lab.
Cristina Lee Escudero
Cristina is an alumna of La Sierra's Biology Department. She obtained her MAT in Secondary Science Education from USC in 2012 and has been teaching in various capacities ever since. Cristina is the STEM Education Specialist, oversees the creation of curriculum for outreach and directs the STEAM Camp each summer. She also started and teaches an urban gardening class for the School of Education.
