The show is appropriately titled “Lorem Ipsum: Dolor Sit Amet,” and will display the many print pieces of award-winning graphic artist and La Sierra University senior Nic Sanchez.

The exhibit, which opens at La Sierra University's Brandstater Gallery on May 10, will have a strong focus on editorial design, according to Sanchez. “Mostly books and magazines will be on display, showcasing my designs. There will be six books and two or three booklets. There will also be a few posters, prints, photographs, and websites on display,” said the senior.

Sanchez's show at Brandstater Gallery runs through May 20. The gallery will hold an opening reception May 10, 6 - 8 p.m. Gallery hours are Mon. - Thurs., 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Sun., 2 - 5 p.m.

Throughout his academic career, Sanchez has built a resume of design experience, from serving as the public relations department's student designer, the student association's publications editor/art director to his present post as publications vice president for the Student Association of La Sierra University. He has also worked as a design intern for Adam Lee Design in Corona and Monster Media Inc. in Riverside.

Sanchez has won much recognition for his work, including gold, silver and bronze Student Addy awards from the Inland Empire Ad Club and two Katchmakoff student portfolio scholarships from La Sierra University.

Sanchez's future plans include entering a Master of Fine Arts graphic design program in typography and type design at the Otis College of Art & Design in Los Angeles. “I eventually want to set up a boutique design firm with one or two other designers that takes on commissioned work from clients as well as [perform] self-initiated work,” the artist said.
