The exhibit opens on Sun., June 4 and will run until Sun., June 18. There will be a reception on Sun., June 4 at 6 p.m. and another on Sun., June 18 after the university’s commencement ceremony and until 12:30 p.m. Work will be featured from students Demi Easley, Don Magezi, Violet Luo, Heather Moores, and Kevin Ong. Tim Musso is the gallery director.

The exhibit will feature animations, oil paintings, photographs, digital prints, and more. In a statement, the artists described their exhibit as “A place for the known and the unknown. We are all searching for something. This show is a small window into our discoveries.”

Luo, who will present oil paintings and photographs, plans to be an art dealer after graduation. She started off as a music major, but had friends who were art majors. These friends informed her about the different types of classes offered and she decided to change her major.

“As an artist, I have learned that we are not only responsible to create good art works, but also need to be responsible to choose the best way to present our works, which means we need to have very good communication with the curators, and be open to tell them our true thoughts,” said Luo.

Magezi, who plans to exhibit digital prints and animations, plans to work in California and eventually earn a Masters of Fine Arts degree. He enrolled at La Sierra as a business major, but later switched to English, and then psychology. When finally switching to art, he appreciated the close mentorship provided by Musso, Terrill Thomas, department chair, and associate professor Susan Patt.

“[Art] has always been a way for me to express or communicate my emotions and ideas,” says Magezi.
