Guitarist Cotter to lead Pierce Street Jazz

 

Los Angeles jazz recording and performance artist, guitarist Steve Cotter will lead the next Pierce Street Jazz concert at La Sierra University on Wed., April 2.

Cotter’s performance and recording credits include work with the Boston Pops Orchestra, the Houston Symphony, jazz and pop artists Jimmy Smith, Steve Tyrell, Ernie Watts, Bette Midler, and many others. Since 2005 he has toured extensively with vocalist Tyrell, and in Los Angeles he is a member of the Luckman Jazz Orchestra and the Los Angeles Jazz Collective. In addition to frequent performances around Los Angeles, Cotter has taught at Citrus College in Glendora for the last 14 years.

Cotter’s band will be comprised of long-time jazz industry stage and studio musicians Theo Saunders, piano, Lyman Medeiros, bass, and Ramon Banda on drums.

Throughout their various careers the musicians have played on recordings, on tour and in concert with many of music’s most well-known acts including Bill Cunliffe, Patti Austin, Michael Feinstein, Pancho Sanchez, Michael Buble, Freddie Hubbard, David “Fathead” Newman, Barbara Morrison, Poncho Sanchez, Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente, and Diana Reeves.

Pierce Street Jazz begins at 7 p.m. at the Troesh Conference Center, Zapara School of Business, La Sierra University, 4500 Riverwalk Parkway, Riverside. Admission is free. For information call 951-785-2148.
