La Sierra University Drama presents "Bee-Luther-Hatchee," a play by Thomas Gibbons published in 2002 that explores the boundaries of identity, authorship, ownership, and atonement.

Described by critics as a powerful, provocative and brilliant work, the drama unfolds around editor Shelita Burns who publishes an autobiography she believes to be the work of a 72-year-old reclusive black woman whom she has never met. The book wins a major award, but upon tracking down the author to deliver the news, Burns discovers to her shock that the writer is a 40-something white man named Sean.

La Sierra’s drama program brings the story to life at Matheson Hall on Oct. 27, 28 and 31, and on Nov. 3 and 4. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 general admission. A question-and-answer with cast and crew will be held on Oct. 28 and Nov. 4 following the performances. For information and tickets, contact the box office at drama@lasierra.edu, or call 951-785-2241.
