La Sierra launches first Twitter Contest, ‘Do you know your SDA history?’
This fun and informative event will be held on May 21, beginning at 9 a.m. U.S. Pacific Daylight Time, and will involve 10 questions tweeted at three minute intervals. The contest is co-sponsored by the H.M.S. Richards Divinity School and La Sierra's Office of Communications and Integrated Marketing.
Followers can participate by replying to the tweets and including the @lasierra Twitter account name. The answers will require one or two-word responses to accommodate the 140-character limit for tweets. The follower who responds with the most correct answers will receive a hardcover copy of “H.M.S. Richards: A Biography” by Robert E. Edwards; a second place winner will receive a $25 gift card; a third place winner will receive a La Sierra University t-shirt. After they have been individually notified, the three winners will be announced on the university's web site, lasierra.edu.
The date of the event was chosen to coincide with 150th anniversary of the founding of the Seventh-day Adventist denomination on May 21, 1863. On that date, the church became an official organization. Over the past century and a half, the denomination has grown exponentially to reach a worldwide membership of 17,214,683. Church membership grows at a rate of nearly one million new members each year.
All contest participants must adhere to Twitter's contest rules which include refraining from creating multiple Twitter accounts for the purposes of winning, and from repeatedly posting the same tweet. Please read a full list of rules at this link: https://support.twitter.com/articles/18311-the-twitter-rules
See you in cyberspace on May 21, and good luck!
