La Sierra University constituents vote new trustees
University constituents during the 2016 Constituency Session moved to approve John Brunt, Karen Hansberger and Doug Rebok as trustees, each for 2016-2018 terms.
Brunt, a La Sierra alumnus and respected educator in Seventh-day Adventist higher education, served much of his career as a professor and senior administrator at Walla Walla University. He also served as a member of the Adventist Accrediting Association board. Brunt recently retired as senior pastor of the Azure Hills Adventist Church.
Hansberger, an alumna and physician, returns to the board on which she previously served from 2002-2014. She currently serves as senior vice president of medical affairs and as chief medical officer at White Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles. She formerly operated a private obstetrics and gynecologic practice in Loma Linda.
Rebok is recently retired as senior vice president and chief administrator of Adventist Health, a system in which he spent 40 years of his career. His various roles included budget specialist, controller, and vice president. He is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and a member of several professional associations.
The newly appointed trustees join the following members who were each approved to return for continued board service:
• Ed Boyatt, educational consultant, retired professor and former dean of La Sierra’s School of Education, 2016-2020 term.
• Meredith Jobe, general counsel for Adventist Health, 2016-2020 term.
• Alvin Kwiram, University of Washington Department of Chemistry professor emeritus, and former faculty member at the California Institute of Technology and Harvard University, 2016-2020 term.

They were also given a report from university President Randal Wisbey, and a presentation on the university’s economic impact on the region.
