La Sierra University Launches Online MBA in Health Care Management

The fully online MBA in Health Care Management will launch its first cohort of 25 – 50 students on January 5, 2026. The application deadline is Sunday, December 21, by 11:59 p.m. 

Scholarships of more than $10,000 are available, resulting in one of the most competitively priced graduate business degree programs on the market.

“This approval marks an important milestone for our university and for California’s healthcare community,” said Dr. John Thomas, dean of the Zapara School of Business. “Healthcare professionals face increasing demands, complex operational challenges, and constantly shifting expectations. Offering this program fully online allows us to meet them where they are and support their advancement with an accredited, high-quality educational experience.”

The rollout of La Sierra’s online MBA rides a wave of interest in online graduate business degrees. Citing a study by higher education market research firm Validated Insights, Poets & Quants early this year reported that interest in online MBA programs vaulted from 22% in 2018 to 44% in 2023. Additionally, as of fall 2023, an estimated 58% of MBA students were enrolled in online programs, the report states.

About the Program

La Sierra University’s MBA in Health Care Management is taught by Zapara School faculty with extensive industry and leadership experience. The program emphasizes practical skills in healthcare operations, strategic management, finance, organizational behavior, and leadership development tailored to the needs of today’s healthcare landscape. The Zapara School of Business has extensive experience – more than 25 years – in delivering its MBA in Health Care Management to cohorts of working professionals, as well as in its traditional program on campus. The new online delivery format allows a much broader range of working professionals to take advantage of the school’s most popular program.

Online classes are delivered through La Sierra University’s online learning environment using Blackboard, Microsoft Teams, and other university-supported platforms.

The university is currently authorized to deliver the online MBA in California and is considering opportunities to provide the program in other states.
