La Sierra University Wind Ensemble to play iconic composer’s film scores

 

Did you like “Jurassic Park” and “Star Wars?” If so, you will love the next La Sierra University Wind Ensemble concert on May 22.

This Saturday night's Wind Ensemble will take its audience on a journey through some of Hollywood's most dramatic feature films when the group performs the works of iconic film score composer and arranger John Williams. The famed musician has won five Academy Awards and 18 Grammys.

The ensemble will take its listeners through battles with giant dinosaurs, intergalactic star ships and the adventures of swashbuckling archaeologist Indiana Jones when it performs Williams' works for blockbuster films. The program lineup includes themes from “Jurassic Park,” “Star Wars Trilogy” and “Raider's March.” Also in the mix, “Theme from Schindler's List,” featuring Christina Thompson on violin and the music of “Catch Me if You Can,” with David Hong on alto saxophone.

For an added twist, the ensemble will play the California premiere of “Twilight of the Gods” by Andrew Boysen Jr., with visual art by Erik Evensen.
