Literature event to feature noted author’s debut novel
Williams will hold a book reading followed by a question-and-answer session for her historical novel “The Longest Night.” The book is based on a true story about America’s only fatal nuclear accident which took place in 1961 at the National Reactor Testing Station, now called Idaho National Labs. The novel unfolds around a young couple who must fight to save their marriage and their community.
The literature event will take place from 7 – 8 p.m. at the Visual Art Center Room 102 and will include a book signing.
Williams is a native of Northern California where she was raised by parents who were public school teachers. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from the University of Minnesota. She and her husband, an active-duty naval officer, have three children ages 10, 7, and 3. They have been stationed most recently in Virginia, Illinois, California, and Colorado, her website states.
“The Longest Night” has received numerous positive reviews as well as the Barnes & Noble “Discover Great New Writers” pick for 2016 and Amazon’s “Debut Novel of the Month” last January.
The book reading is free admission and is presented by the Department of English. For further information call 951-785-2241.
