Paul Landa Memorial Lecture to Discuss Muslim-Christian Relations
Dr. Najeeba Syeed-Miller will deliver the 2012 Paul J. Landa Memorial Lecture entitled “The Promise and Challenge of Muslim-Christian Relations in the United States.” The lecture is Sabbath, Feb. 25, at 4 p.m.
Dr. Sayeed-Miller is an assistant professor of interreligious education at Claremont School of Theology, where she has a particular interest in “conflict resolution among communities of ethic and religious diversity.”
Najeeba Syeed-Miller is a prolific practitioner and effective educator in the area of conflict resolution. Her involvements range widely, including conducting gang interventions, implementing diversity training in universities and public agencies, conflict resolution in public schools, interreligious dialogue among the Abrahamic traditions, and environmental conflict resolution.
Her conflict resolution experience has made her a sought after trainer for those who work on conflicts in India, Latin America, Guam, Afghanistan, Israel and Palestine.
After Dr. Sayeed-Miller's lecture, an interfaith panel representing Adventist, Muslim and Jewish perspectives will respond.
As a precursor to the Landa lecture, the Friday, Feb. 24, First Service at La Sierra University University Church will feature honors students, recently returned from a month in Turkey, who will talk about their experiences with Muslims and Christians in Istanbul.
Both events will be held in the La Sierra University Church.
