Statement on the Crisis in Ukraine

We are horrified today by the images and headlines describing current events in Ukraine. We hoped and prayed for a diplomatic solution, but with developments over the past 24 hours, we now fervently pray for God’s intervention on behalf of precious Ukrainian and Russian lives, for God’s protection for everyone in harm’s way.

Now more than ever we need God’s peace that passes all understanding. Please join us in praying for an end to this unfolding war that will have devastating impacts on our neighbors both far and near.

We find ourselves in a tension-fueled moment. Pandemic uncertainty, economic instability, and now increasing socio-political division undermine our understanding of the world and our places in it. Nonetheless, we cannot allow fear to overcome and consume us. While we strive to assist those in distress and relieve the immense suffering of humanity, we also keep our focus fixed upon a higher plane: the God of power and grace who knows all, sees all, and cares for all will give us courage, compassion, and strength to meet the needs of today and tomorrow.
