The 74th Annual Candlelight Concert will be held Friday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. at the La Sierra University Church. Produced by the Department of Music, the Christmas repertoire includes the University Chorale performing excerpts from G.F. Handel’s “The Messiah” as well as “Fum, Fum, Fum” by Mack Wilberg; the Chamber Singers performing “Silent Night” and “In Dulci Jubilo” by Matthew Culloton; United vocal ensemble singing “What Sweeter Music” by John Rutter; and the Wind Ensemble performing “Go Tell it On the Mountain,” arranged by Jay Dawson, and “Holiday Piece” by David Foster, arranged by Jay Dawson. Soloists will also give performances.

“Words cannot properly describe the feeling of excitement, anticipation and sheer joy to be able to make music together and for a live audience this year." -- Dr. Ariel Quintana, Director of Choral Studies

Last year’s Candlelight Concert was held virtually due to the campus' prior move to online operations toward maintaining health and safety during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The university re-opened under pandemic protocol for in-person instruction this fall.

“Words cannot properly describe the feeling of excitement, anticipation and sheer joy to be able to make music together and for a live audience this year,” said Dr. Ariel Quintana, director of choral studies. “Our Candlelight Concert promises to be one we will cherish and remember for a long time.”

This year a virtual replay of the 74th Annual Candlelight Concert will be made available at 4 p.m. on Dec. 4 on the university’s livestream at https://livestream.com/lasierra and the music department’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/lasierrauniversitymusic. Viewers may also obtain a link to the virtual performance directly by emailing music@lasierra.edu.

Attendance is free for the Dec. 3 Candlelight Concert performance, but registration is required. A limited number of reserved seats are available at $20 per person. Evidence of full Covid-19 vaccination and face masks indoors are required. Tickets, registration and protocol details can be found at: https://www.itickets.com/events/456052
