Arun Muthiah

Education:

  • Lecturer I of Biology (2016)
  • Ph.D., Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, Loma Linda University, 2013.
  • M.S., Medical Microbiology, Christian Medical College, India, 1995.
  • B.S., Zoology, Bishop Heber College, Tiruchirappalli, 1991.

Principal Research Interests

Dr. Muthiah is interested in microbial pathogenesis and glycosylation. He aims to understand the role glycans play in attributing pathogenic properties to bacteria. Understanding the biology of glycosylation in these bugs could help design novel drug targets to control their multiplication leading to control of Multiple Drug Resistant (MDR) bacteria and the so called "super bugs".

Academic Interests/Research Area:

  • Microbiology
  • Human Physiology
