About the Gallery

The Brandstater Gallery is part of the Visual Art Center at La Sierra University. The gallery was established in 1984, with a donation from the children of Roy and Frances Brandstater – Rhona, Bernard, Murray and Lynne – as a legacy to honor their parents.

The gallery was designed by Robert Burman, a prolific producer of Modern ecclesiastical architecture in Southern California including the landmark Hollywood Seventh Day Adventist Church on Van Ness and Hollywood Blvd. The 1200 square foot Brandstater Gallery features 16 foot walls, north-facing clerestory windows, and LED light track.

Mission

The mission of the Brandstater Gallery of La Sierra University is to affirm the life-enhancing aesthetic and educational qualities of the visual arts by presenting challenging exhibits that provide our campus and community with culturally diverse, innovative, and scholarly exhibits presented in a stimulating and informative manner.

Brandstater Gallery Endowment

The Brandstater Endowment Fund was established at La Sierra University to provide income for activities and programs in the Art+Design Department that have a focus in the Brandstater Gallery. Learn more about the Endowment here.
