The Department of Online Learning at La Sierra University supports faculty, students, and administration in teaching and learning at a distance. Our team provides comprehensive information about all services, from instructional design, to the effective use and selection of effective technology. We provide information on inclusion, accessibility, quality assurance, best practices, policy, state authorization, and the use and setup of third-party tools and LTI integrations. Our team works closely with IT to provide the best all-encompassing information for our community.
Our department works diligently to:
- Encourage using educational technology, best practices, course management, and all foundational tools, such as Panopto, Zoom, and our Learning management system.
- Identify needed training and support for faculty and students as they transition to online learning or other distance education modes.
- Provide professional development by way of our faculty and student programs. And we keep our team up to date with allotted times for workshops, webinars, and conferences that contain new knowledge in this growing field and changing education.
- Engage with leadership, faculty, staff, and students to provide knowledge and resources as they proceed through the changes in academic modalities.
- Support the development and establishment of new online courses, online programs, zoom rooms, and programs that assist in the growth of teaching and learning.
- Improve the quality of online or hybrid course instruction, design, and data and assessment tools.
