Cameron Jordan
Counseltation

Counseltation is a non-profit educational organization that seeks to combine counseling services through a consultant resource. This new and unique program offers online mental health support services to students in Adventist schools within the NAD in grades 3-12. As an intern, Cameron has the opportunity to participate in individual, small group, and whole school based interventions. In addition he will be exposed to grant writing and policy review.

Miosheio Johnson
Inland SoCal Crisis Helpline (951-686-HELP): A project of Inland SoCal United Way

Inland Southern California United Way’s mission is to unite people, ideas, and resources to empower our community and improve lives. After receiving evidence-based crisis intervention and suicide prevention training, Miosheio provides telephonic emotional support, crisis intervention and suicide prevention. In addition to the telephonic crisis counseling, as a social work intern, she assists with suicide prevention presentations in the community. Miosheio provides help, hope and increases safety with each client who calls 951-686-HELP, a 55 year old suicide hotline.

Gabriela Ortuno
Norco College Health Services, Norco Community College

Norco College is a two-year public institution of higher education that serves the Inland Empire region. As an intern, Gabriela has the opportunity to train within two dynamic teams--the Basic Needs and Wellness Program and the Student Psychological Services team. This collaborative, multidisciplinary environment includes opportunities for interns to practice the following: Case management intakes/assessments and care planning, resource & referral management and coordination; outreach and engagement; behavioral modification; collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including medical, mental health, social services, and administration; and facilitating educational workshops.

Rebecca James
Children Services Division, Riverside County Department of Public Social Services

Riverside County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS), Children's Services Division (CSD) protects children and youth from abuse and neglect, and partners with families, young adults, and communities to build safety, permanency, and well-being. As an intern, Rebecca carries her own cases throughout the internship. In addition, she connects with various county offices to help families mitigate their circumstances by offering services that meet the unique needs of each family.

Melanie Capcal
Meet Montclair Valley Community Health Center, Health Service Alliance

Health Service Alliance operates several Community Health Centers in San Bernardino County. Their programs provide comprehensive and integrated primary medical, dental, mental health, and substance abuse treatment services to low- income residents in southwest San Bernardino County. As an intern Melanie provides case management services to clients, shadows clinicians, and participates in macro level community involvement.

Clarissa Salgado
Lehman’s Center Children & Adults’ Clinics, Riverside University Health System, Behavioral Health

The Behavioral Health Department serves a wide variety of clients whose lives are impacted by some form
of mental illness. At these specific clinics, clients range from very young children through adulthood. As a BSW intern, Clarissa works with clients and their families by assisting with translation services and providing case management services. She also has the opportunity to learn about different strategies for individual and group therapy, actively participating in staff meetings and group planning, and to prepare materials for sessions with clients. The goal of her service is to assist clients in linking to resources and developing better communication/coping skills that can enhance their quality of life.

Trinity Tanner
Children & Youth Collaborative Services, County of San Bernardino Department of Behavioral Health

San Bernardino County’s Children & Youth Collaborative Services (CYCS) offers an array of services for seriously, emotionally disturbed children who are not benefiting from traditional mental health services. Services range from crisis intervention to life skills, clinical, and educational services for children and youth. CYCS provides initial and ongoing trauma-informed care to children and youth to ensure that both San Bernardino County youth and youth placed out of county receive clinical treatment that addresses their mental health needs. CYCS is comprised of multiple units that conduct comprehensive assessments, evaluations, and coordination with a variety of providers to ensure the best level of care for the youth is determined and that all treatment recommendations are directed towards increasing the youth’s overall success and stability.

Arianna Perez
Community Engagement, Olive Crest

Olive Crest is a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing child abuse by strengthening, equipping, and restoring children and families in crisis. The program is a church-driven, volunteer-based foster care diversionary effort. As a BSW intern, Arianna works predominantly in the Community Involvement Team for the Strong Families program. Interns in this program participate in hotline calls, intake meetings, screenings of prospective families, home studies, weekly check-in calls for ongoing hostings, and resource finding and support for volunteer host families. Through this program, interns help vulnerable families stay together through the
hosting program, and seek out resources for families and children as needed. Arianna will also have the opportunity to participate in host family training and community events such as resource fairs.

Sarai Hincapie
Loma Linda Adult Day Services, Loma Linda University Medical Center

Loma Linda University’s Community Based Adult Services (CBAS) is a licensed community-based day health program that provides services to adults with chronic medical, cognitive, or mental health conditions and/or disabilities that are at risk of needing institutional care. The primary objectives of the program are to restore or maintain optimal capacity for self-care to frail elderly persons or adults with disabilities and delay or prevent inappropriate or personally undesirable institutionalization. As an intern, Sarai helps to monitor and assess clients at the agency, engage with clientele through meaningful activities such as crafts, games, and music, and provide community resources to clients and their families.
